March brings fewer showers and Nyepi, the Day of Silence (usually in March; the date moves each year) — the whole island shuts down for 24 hours, including the airport. The night before has spectacular ogoh-ogoh parades. Light clothes and a sarong for ceremonies.

☀️ By day

Light clothes as the rains ease.

🌙 Evening

Comfortable loungewear if Nyepi falls during your trip.

Nyepi (Day of Silence)

Usually March; the date moves each year

On the evening before, villages parade giant ogoh-ogoh demon effigies, which is loud, colourful and best seen in comfortable shoes. Nyepi itself is 24 hours of total silence. The airport closes and everyone, tourists included, stays in their hotel, so pack comfy loungewear and a good book.
